Various issues and challenges of fault diagnosis on battery system are identified. Due to the limited capacity and voltage of single battery cell, the battery system for electric vehicles often consists of hundreds or thousands of single cells in series and parallel connection.
The inconsistency of individual cell in capacity, voltage, internal resistance, etc., and their coupling effects with aging make the battery system fail frequently, which brings great challenges to the safe and reliable operation of the battery system.
A large number of research results have been obtained for the various faults that may occur in the battery system, and a variety of different methods have been applied to the fault diagnosis of the battery system. The current research on the diagnosis of various faults of the battery system is summarized below. 3.2.1. ISC fault
The key of fault diagnosis is to determine whether there is an abnormality in the battery system through the fault diagnosis strategy based on the collected sensor data, and at the same time determine the location of abnormal cell and the type of fault that occurs, and perform fault tolerant control to reduce the influence of the fault.
Conclusion Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), the link between renewable energy and electric vehicles, have been suffering from the threats of internal short circuit (ISC) faults. Fast and accurate diagnosis of early stage ISC faults can prohibit the evolution of faults and the occurrence of serious accidents.
